Dr. Marit Rosol

Marit Rosol has been working since 2006 as a Lecturer at the University of Frankfurt. She did her PhD about „Community Gardening in Berlin“ at the Geographical Institute at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Before that she studied Urban and Regional Planning at the Technical University of Berlin and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid, Spain. Between August 2007 and August 2008 Marit Rosol was holding a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Geography, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

Currently she is doing research on the question on "governing through community" based on her empirical work on City Plan Community Visions Vancouver / Canada. The conceptual framework entails a combination of a political-economy perspective on neo-liberal restructuring of (local) statehood and planning policy and the neo-Foucauldian governmentality approach.

Her main focus in research and teaching consist in connecting processes of urban development with wider spatial and social theory. She also specialized in urban and landscape planning as well as participation studies.
