Functional Plant Biogeography

In the working group on functional biogeography we investigate the factors that influence the distribution and abundance of plants. On a conceptual level we seek to link systems and demographic traditions of plant ecology into an unified framework. On a methodological level we attempt to create a dynamic feedback between data and models by using a blend of empirical data collection, manipulative experiments and empirical and process modelling. Although we are primarily motivated by basic research questions, most of our research projects include applied aspects.
