Christina Grün

Dipl. Biologist, TU Darmstadt, Germany, 2008

Research associate and doctoral candidate

Biography:

Christina Grün studied Ecology, Animal Physiology, Cell- & Developmental Biology and Environmental Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt, and obtained a diploma in Biological Sciences as well as a certification in Environmental Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. She is now workingon her PhD thesis that deals with the understanding of how abiotic and biotic factors like interspecific competition influence vegetation patterns. Her work is based on field studies monitoring ecological processes, empirical research and modeling to simulate range dynamics of certain dry grassland species across Europe. She is mainly interested in the mechanisms and effects of biotic and abiotic factors on species performance and distributions on local scale patterns. Moreover she works on the relationship of competition strength and functional traits of plants.

Areas of Interest:

  • terrestrial ecosystem response to climate change
  • patterns and processes of plant species distributions
  • assembly rules and functional traits
